Ready or not….here we come!

In early March, Nathan and I were in negotiations to purchase a bakery/cafe in San Anselmo that was a “dream kitchen” and had been open and quite popular in town for just over a year. We were hit pretty hard when our deal to purchase that location (Sweet Life Bakery) fell through. We recovered, shook ourselves off and charted our course. Since then, we have gotten into a temporary rental bake shop and have debuted our bread to the world at SHED in Healdsburg. It has been amazing to see our bread captivate foodies and see the buzz grow.
I get asked almost daily “when are you guys opening?” and the question has, out of necessity, been a shoulder shrug, and “I don’t know”. After the Sweet Life deal disintegrated, we took some time to consider the space we were working on and determined it no longer fit our vision. We had outgrow it before we’d even started building. We explored many options including purchasing other businesses, building out a warehouse for a wholesale business or simply going back to the drawing board, finding, designing and building out our space. In the back of my mind, there was always a curiosity about what had happened at 101 San Anselmo (Sweet Life). I would run by a few times every week and see no progress, no signs of life. In the middle of last month, the curiosity got the best of me and I decided to find out. In fact, I did more than that. I brought the deal back to life and I am happy to announce that Nathan and I have purchased Sweet Life bakery and signed our lease for the space. M.H. Bread and Butter will be open for business incredibly soon! I wanted to let you know all know whether you are someone who has been a party to the process, a supporter or a future customer. We cannot wait to be open in weeks instead of months and months. More details soon, but I had to share the great news!!!
